"The Craniosacral system...functionally, it is intimately related to the central nervous system, the autonomic nervous system, the neuromusculoskeletal system, and the endocrine system." -John E. Upledger. It also strongly influences the vascular system, lymphatics and the respiratory system.

The boundaries of the craniosacral system are the dura mater, the impermeable membrane surrounding the brain and the spinal cord, that holds cerebrospinal fluid. Fluids pass from the vascular system into the choroid plexus of the brain, where it becomes cerobrospinal fluid. The fluid will eventually exit the brain through sagittal venous sinus, and back in to the vascular system.

The craniosacral system is a semi-closed hydraulic system, there is fluid intake and fluid return vis the choroid plexus and the sagittal venous sinus in the brain. Too much fluid or too little fluid effect the craniosacral rhythm which in turn, can effect everything else in the body.

"...the boundaries of the craniosacral system, the dural membranes, are given shape by the fluid pressure within the system and by its more rigid aspects, the cranial bones to which the membrane is firmly and lavishly attached..." - John E. Upledger

Any force applied to the boundaries of the craniosacral system; the dura mater (surrounds the brain and spinal cord) as well as the cranial bones, will be transmitted in all directions.

So you can now better visualize how even the slightest change in muscle tone, connective tissue restrictions, change to organs or hormones, can affect the function of the whole body and affect homeostatis.
